LUCI SHATALOV

The diversity of cultures in her homeland shape the work of Luci Shatalov.
Her paintings are created in numerous layers being intuitively and seemingly playfully placed on top of each other by the artist.

Luci Shatalov

1968    born in Fergona / Uzbekistan

Educational training in painting and decorative painting at the Fergona Art School

Educational training as a designer and interior architect at the Tashkent Art School
with diploma in 1996

The diversity of cultures in her homeland shape the artistic work of Luci Shatalov.
Each of her works is created in numerous layers that are intuitively and seemingly playfully
placed on top of each other by the artist.
In this way looking at Shatalov´s paintings is a never-ending journey of discovery -
under each application of paint there are surprising motif elements of the previous work processes to be found.
Figures of the city´s history can be seen, and patrons as well as fictional mythical creatures
mate to dreamlike visual worlds and form imaginative picture puzzles full of hints and secrets.
The artist often creates themes of different cities such as Berlin, Hamburg, Cologne or Nuremberg
and deals very thoroughly with the history of the respective city.
You can immediately recognize the artist´s intense preoccupation with each location
which is always being portrayed with admiration and love.
Heavenly and winged beings are often to be seen in Shatalov´s paintings.
With her depiction of angels the artist would like to especially thank her father Yakop Ebstein
who was artistically active himself.
Luci Shatalov sees her works as heavenly messengers of her greetings and thanks
which she never could express personally to her father.
